Homeowner Rehab Grant Applications Now Accepted

Notice of Funding Availability: Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) will make $850,000 in Homeowner Rehab funding available to help repair and rehabilitate single-family, owner-occupied housing.

Eligible Applicants: Local units of government (cities and counties) in Kansas may apply for KHRC Homeowner Rehab funding. HOME entitlement cities of Kansas City, Topeka, Lawrence, Wichita, and Johnson County are not eligible to apply for KHRC funds. Communities may apply for up to $250,000. Grantees will receive an additional 5 percent of the awarded HOME project amount for eligible administrative costs.

Program Overview: Applicants are rated on the municipality’s ability to comply with applicable federal and state regulations, and must have the capacity to perform code inspection, specification writing and construction management.  If the community is contracting with a grant administrator, that entity’s capacity will also be evaluated as part of the application review. Priority is given to communities that target elderly or disabled home owners, those with income below 60 percent of Area Median Income, and families with children.

Deadline:  Homeowner Rehab applications must be submitted to KHRC by 4pm Friday, June 29th, 2012. Applications submitted via mail or other delivery system should be sent using a return receipt process. Failure to submit required information will be grounds for rejection of the application.
